Here are the proposed changes to the Co-op bylaw changes:

My main concern is the ‘Single Annual Meeting’:

…and the ‘Vote by Mail’:

…because I think it discourages active participation. If anything, I think the owner-members need to be more engaged. I have to admit that I’m being somewhat hypocritical, since I’ve only participated in 3 activities since I became a member. But these two new bylaws would make it easier to be a passive participant, which is a sure-fire way to disengage our fellow owner-members. We’ve seen what happens in government when we let “representatives” make the decisions for us. Needless to say, I don’t think any of us want to see the co-op go the direction of our local/state/federal government!!
I’ll see you at the forum!

I shop the co-op to get the best vege’s and fruit that I can which cannot be done at any local conventional grocery store. I also like to get the best deals that I can and I like giving back to the community. I feel that I am because I know who is growing my veges and where my fruit is coming from. I feel the SRFC cannot give the best deals that it can on other food items because it has exceeded it space limitations (by a mile) and cannot give to the potential that it could. I have heard reference to the store as the “neighborhood” store or the “mom and pop” store. It has WAY passed that title. It is time to move on out of the “neighborhood” and into the community to serve a bigger and broader community. This area needs you!
